aKING entertains at Woordfees 2017 despite technical difficulties

Local band aKING pulled off a crowd-pleasing performance on Friday night, despite the performance being marred by technical difficulties.

The band showed its years of experience as they continued to play throughout a series of glitches with the sound.

The crowd cheered the performers on as they continued to play, and laughed when vocalist Laudo Liebenberg joked that they were playing a “technical difficulty jam’’ and that the band ‘’had skrillex playing in the back’’.

The performance, which took place at Bloekomhoek opposite Kruiskerk was finished too quickly for the crowd, and the band returned for an encore after the last song.

aKING, originally from Bellville, are not new to Woordfees, and attracted some loyal fans for the evening.

Fans such as Eugene van der Westhuizen drove through for the evening from Cape Town, and declared aKING as the only show worth driving through for from the festival line-up.

Andre Petz, who has experience organising events, says that technical difficulties are common at shows and festivals, but the band took it well and it, ‘’worked brilliantly’’. He continued, “it’s nice to see them after all these years, still performing’’. Tegan Mouton and Marli van Eeden
